ASTM A516 standard specification for pressure vessel plates, carbon steel for moderate and lower- temperature service. Carbon steel plates and pressure vessel plates are often used for lower and moderate temperature service to ASTM A516 GR.60. It is one of the best and popular steel grades that are commonly used for manufacturing steel plates. This grade is primarily intended to be used in pressure vessel where toughness is required at top notch. The grade is considered best due to its high tensile strength and corrosion resistance that ranges from 55-90 MPa. The plates that are thinner than 40mm are often supplied to the customer in rolled form whereas plates are more than 40mm thick are supplied in normalized form.
