How ASTM B Specifications Are Organised
ASTM standards are prefixed by subject: A for iron and steel, B for nonferrous metals, E for test methods and general subjects. Nickel alloy product specifications sit in the B series, and most are written for one product form of one alloy family. That is why a plant built in Inconel 625 and Hastelloy C-276 can generate scrap marked with a dozen different spec numbers.
A few specifications cut across families. B564 covers forgings in many nickel alloys, B366 covers butt-weld fittings, and B163 covers condenser and heat-exchanger tube in several alloys. For those, the UNS number on the marking is essential.

Using ASTM Markings to Prove a Scrap Lot
Record the full marking of every piece that has one, together with the heat number. Match heat numbers to EN 10204 3.1 certificates where the seller has them. Then take XRF readings from a sample of marked pieces and every unmarked one. Marked pieces that read correctly give you confidence in the batch. Unmarked pieces have to stand on their own reading.
